Hello, I am PunX Rock S@m - (aka - little sammy boy punk rock) / Childish Pun). I have been drawing punk rock images and show fliers since the mid 90's So thirty some years now! I currently resign in the state of Minnesota in the Midwest U$@.

2- What is the main reason why you draw and what is your intention when doing it?
Main reason I draw or make art is for personal enjoyment and to Spread a Message! Ya, know. Destroy the System!

3- Tell us about the scene in your region and what projects are worth mentioning. (Zines, squatters, bands, podcasts, labels...)
Hello, So I live in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St. Paul,MN). When I am not in the Concrete Jungle I am in the Northwoods trenched deep in the Pine Center = Zerkel! (Headwaters of the Mississippi River and Boreal Forest). Mpls is very lucky as it has the best record store in the World! Extreme Noise Records. Extreme Noise was founded in the Winter of 1993-94 in Minneapolis and is a volunteer-run co-op and all profits are reinvested into the store and local punk community. There are a few radio stations and college shows that play Punk Rock on the Air or you can stream along. Such as Tuesday Nights at 10 PM in Saint Cloud on KVSC 88.1 FM.Roar of the Underground Thursday Nights from 10 PM - Midnight. And Dagger Radio in Mankato,MN.

Hola, vivo en Minneapolis y St. Paul, Minnesota. Cuando no estoy en la Jungla de Cemento, estoy en Northwoods, enclavado en el Pine Center = Zerkel (la cabecera del río Misisipi y el bosque boreal). Minneapolis tiene mucha suerte, ya que tiene la mejor tienda de discos del mundo: Extreme Noise Records. Extreme Noise se fundó en el invierno de 1993-94 en Minneapolis y es una cooperativa dirigida por voluntarios. Todas las ganancias se reinvierten en la tienda y en la comunidad punk local. 4- Have you drawn for bands or other projects other than
!Radical Fun Time!? Tell us a little more about !Radical Fun Time! I have drawn over Several thousand Fliers for Punk Shows! Setting up Shows in Minneapolis for years I have drawn for over ten thousand bands now! I have drawn Cassettes, CD, 7"'s, 10"'s and 12" Cover art. At one point in time I was helping book twin cities hardcore shows in a collective at the Babylon and Mala, also drawing fliers for Punk Rock Bowling at Memory Lanes on Monday Nights. Was on the first Triple Rock Street Team and volunteered at Arize! Bookstore. At Arize! we set up shows, political demonstrations, creating events doing fliers for these gigs along with other fliers for shows at all these venues. Some local fliers/ bands that I drew for = Code-13, GoodMorning, Dillinger Four, Useless Wooden Toys, Menstrual Tramps. National Bands -Iskra, Bread & Water, AssChapel, DisWar, Remission, I also have drawn Fliers for Holizinger Lodge shows in Winona, MN and for The Warehouse in La Crosse, WI. For bands such as Falling Sickness, 88 Fingers Louie, Authority Abuse, Kung-Fu Rick, & Optimus Prime.!Radical Fun Time! is a Political Revolution! Through Direct Action we create Music and Art while out in the Trenches. Living in Protest Camp for years to Stop the Enbridge Pipeline Invasion, we first handedly saw the devastation. Many Songs, Lyrics and images are a direct off-shoot of what was happening daily around us. We Scream about what we do and document what we see with illustrations, lyric sheets and educational pamphlets. Engaged in the Moment Enraged in the Movement! Think Globally Act Locally!According to the internet - "!Radical Fun Time! is refers to a music subgenre, specifically hardcore punk, with a focus on positive and uplifting themes, even while maintaining a fast-paced and aggressive musical style. It's often associated with bands like ¡RADICAL FUN TIME! from Zerkel, Zagataagan Nation on the White Earth Reservation., who blend hardcore/grind with positive messages. !RFT! - TwinCities Hardcore combined with North Woods Anarcho Political Environmentalist Crust = Zerkel Pit Peace PunX

¡He dibujado más de mil volantes para conciertos de punk! Llevo años organizando conciertos en Minneapolis y ya he dibujado para más de diez mil bandas. He dibujado portadas de casetes, CD, vinilos de 7", 10" y 12". En una ocasión, ayudé a reservar conciertos hardcore en Twin Cities con un colectivo en Babylon y Mala, y también dibujé volantes para Punk Rock Bowling en Memory Lanes los lunes por la noche. Formé parte del primer equipo Triple Rock Street y fui voluntario en la librería Arize!. En Arize!, organizamos conciertos, manifestaciones políticas, creamos eventos y publicamos volantes para estos conciertos, además de otros volantes para conciertos en todos estos locales. 5- Do you consider yourself an idealist?
Yeah, I probably am. What is your struggle? Last few Years it has been Enbridge's Expansion Pipeline Project's Line 3 & Line 5. Instead of looking for green renewable energy our state allowed more pipelines to put in the ground and left the old contaminated ones to erode and wither away. The Emissions from this is equivalent to 50 new Power Plants in a small area. Enbridge is a Foreign Terrorist Company that bought its way into the state. Broke several laws, resulting in over 11 million dollars in fines. Violated Drilling permit and went to deep where they Punctured an Aquifer causing water shoot out of the ground uncontrollably for a year!

6- Apart from drawing, do you also have other projects related to D.I.Y. Punk?
Yes, I occasionally write for different Zines. Small local zines, and I also have sent articles and Reviews into Maximum Rock N Roll and Razorcakes! Over the years I have volunteered for different local record labels. Such as Sterling Records, Profane Existence, Field without Fences, Radical Fun Records and of course Dilapidated Records. Besides Setting Up Shows. I have also started Local Food Not Bomb Chapter where we feed people at events and randomly set up soup kitchen. Myself and other !Radical Fun Time! Crew Members also do an occasional Critical Mass. Where we ride take over the streets and ride Bikes around town. Some People Skateboard!

Sí, ocasionalmente escribo para diferentes fanzines. Pequeños fanzines locales, y también he enviado artículos y reseñas a Maximum Rock N Roll y Razorcakes. 6b- Looking at your illustrations, there is something specific that draws my attention, and it is the indiscriminate use of colors. Normally punk artists work with black ink, what motivates you to give color to everything?
Good Question. I use to only do black ink but then I started coloring a few. And Now they really don't feel finished unless they are penciled, inked, colored, scanned and then have band logos or whatever added on.
6b- Al ver tus ilustraciones, hay algo que me llama la atención: el uso indiscriminado de colores. Normalmente, los artistas punk trabajan con tinta negra, ¿qué te motiva a darle color a todo?
Buena pregunta. Solo uso tinta negra, pero luego empecé a colorear algunas. Y ahora no parecen terminadas a menos que estén dibujadas a lápiz, entintadas, coloreadas, escaneadas y luego se les añada el logo de la banda o lo que sea.
7- Could you tell us which are the non-profit labels, or the most D.I.Y. ones in the USA to find material?
Dilapidated Records!, releases a bunch of Great punk Rock! www.dilapidateddistro.bandcamp.com ! If you are in Town, here in Minneapolis we have Extreme Noise Records. It is a physical record store all volunteer run collective. They have the best music, shirts, patches, zines, books, Studs, Spikes, Pins, Bracelets, Belts for punks. This is one of the best Punk Shops in the world. If you get chance this is a must. Only sells in person no online. So you have to personally come in and shop. Also Up North the PunX Rock Museum is Radical! Or head over to the Zerkel Pit for an all age show or do some Record shopping at The Radical Fun Record Store! PunX to the Bone is this really Cool Various Artists D.I.Y. Benefit Compilations that are put out locally! All Online sales go to Compilation charities , the bands and then local punk scene. You can check this out at www.PunXtotheBone3.bandcamp.com Other great local labels would be Havoc Records, Desolate Records, Profane Existence, and of course Dilapidated Records. Minnesota recently has gotten a vinyl Pressing Plant called Outa Wax. Looking forward to getting some Vinyl Pressed there in near future!

8- What do you think about underground bands that are released by labels that profit from double or triple what their releases really cost? Are the bands, the labels, responsible, who pays for them?...That doesn't seem Punk to me. Punk Rock is for the PunX. For Example I like when 7" 's in corner said pay no more than $3.00. The cost of everything is on the rise so that isn't quite realistic price anymore. But you catch my drift. Keep things affordable so more hands can grab a copy / more ears can listen to it for that matter..
8- ¿Qué opinas de las bandas underground que publican discos con sellos que se lucran con el doble o el triple de lo que realmente cuestan sus lanzamientos? ¿Son responsables las bandas, los sellos, quién los paga?...
Eso no me parece punk. El punk rock es para los PunX. Por ejemplo, me gusta cuando los discos de 7" en la esquina dicen que no pagues más de $3.00. El precio de todo está subiendo, así que ya no es un precio realista. Pero me entiendes. Mantén los precios asequibles para que más personas puedan conseguir una copia y, de hecho, más personas puedan escucharla.
9- How did the so-called Corona Virus affect your scene? Is there talk among you about Chemtrails or Geo-engineering? Is the Anti-Zionist struggle an important political cause in today's punk?
Shows definitely slowed down or almost didn't happen around here for a year or two because or the Corona Virus. Things are more like they were before. But mentality of having to be responsible or go to every show I think became more lax. This Awesome Local band !Radical Fun Time! wrote a song called CHEMTRAILS - Aluminum Barium Dust A Synthetic DNA in a Toxic Aerial Spray . It came out on the 7" inch "There is Only One Race the HUMAN RACE" released in 2016. So ten years ago when song was written it was considered a conspiracy theory. When 7" record was sent in for reviews it had mixed feelings on this topic. Some people thought it was good to address and others thought !RFT!'s politics were a little out there. However recently the State of Florida has made it a felony if anyone is caught releasing Chemtrails or using Geo-Engineering to alter the Weather. Hopefully other States here in the U$@ will follow suit. This law solidifies that such things exit and are being used to Control Climate. Humans are the biggest threat to this planet and our own existence. It has not been proven Chemtrails release Toxic Chemicals. This is poisoning plants and contaminating ground water, this needs to stop.Yes, Anti-Zionist struggle is still an important political cause in today's Punk! The Colonization mentality has got to go, no-one is Illegal on Stolen Land. Borders are used to Control mass populations and restrict travel. Once people have a property/ land you can start taxing them on it. Punk Rock is Anti-Capitalist. We Believe in Mutual Respect and Responsibility. When I am not in the Twin Cities I am up North in Zerkel on the White Earth Reservation. It is 1867 Treaty Territory of the Anishinaabe People. I find a comparison how the Native American were forced to live on Reservations here Similar to How the Jews are meant to Live in Palestine. Squat Legal, Free the Land. No one should be told How to Live or Where to Live. So yes, Struggle still has validity. Punk is Anti-Genocide, Anti-Establishment and Anti-Racist!

10- What would your life be like without art and music? It would be A dull, Non-Enthusiastically Existence. Music, Art and Political Activism is my life, so without those things I wouldn't be the person I am today. Music and Art Bring me Joy along with all other emotions. Art and Music is necessity for daily life.
