Dibujantes: Aurélio (entrevista #106 y galeria de imagenes).

Esta fue una entrevista realizada hace un año atras que quedó olvidada y que recien ahora subo al blo. Muchas gracias Aurélio, aunque sea bastante tarde, nunca es tarde para reparar fallas.

1- Gracias de antemano por participar en este proyecto "Cartoonists Around the World". Un estudio que rastrea dibujantes vinculados al Rock. Cuentanos como te llamas? De donde eres? Y como es un dia normal de tu vida en cuarentena?

1-Hola ! Me llamo Aurélio, soy frances. Hé vivido mucho tiempo en la cercaria de Paris. Despues, me fue al sur de francia para aprender el tatuaje. Y siempre vivo al sur. Pero, estoy en la escena punk-Hardcore DIY frances desde el principio de los años 2000 sobretodo con los grupos de la Guerilla Asso

Un dia normal de cuarentena es hacer dibujos cómicos sobre la actualidad y mi communicacion internet en la mañana  Y mi « comics » en la tarde Y a veces algunas chelas en el anochecer

2- que llega primero a tu vida, el arte o la musica?

2- los dos. He empezado a dibujar mucho reproduciendo Las artwork de Iron Maiden y haciendo muchos « Eddie ». Tambien, haciendo chiquitos « comics » con personajes mas Franco/Belge en el estilo. Y tambien caricatiras

3- desee cuando tededicas profesionalmente a vincular la musica y el arte?

3-En mi escena punk-hxc, es un poco difficile de estar « profesional » de eso. Trato de hacer ilustraciones (y comics) de calidad pero no es pagado mucho porque los grupos (o associaciones) de musica punk-hxc no tienen mucho dineros. Para « comer », trabajo a lado, entes como infografico y ahora como tatuador

4- como es la escena Underground de tu ciudad?

4-la escena undeground en Toulouse es muy activa pero el problemo es los lugards de conciertos que estan cerrados poco a poco (por la culpa de problemos de « ruido pùblico ». Pero me gusto mucho ir al La Cave A Rock donde hay muchos conciertos frecuentemente organisados por Toloose Punkers o por The Hey Bitches. Hay tambien Les Enfants Sauvages, un squat artistico con conciertos muy excelentes. Y una ciudad al lado, tenemos la associacion Pollux Asso !!!

5- que bandas puedes recomendarnos de tu entorno?

7- tienes una linea definida en algun personaje que dibujas, como el payaso que usas para tu ícono. Tiene nombre, es un referente tuyo que publicas en algun sitio?

7- No tanto. He creado muchos personajes como el esqueleto « Cadav Eric » o este payaso Bizo pero no creo que los dibujare hasta mi fin de vida

2- since when do you link your art with music?

2- As long as I remember I started to be very inspired from music when I started to listen to rap (I was something like 11 year old) and then I discovered RATM, then rock, metal and punk. I think the fact a music has a powerfull song and moreover a powermeaning matters a lot, that’s why punk and stoner are the more inspiring for me.

2- ¿desde cuando vinculas tu arte con la música?

2- Desde que tengo memoria comencé a inspirarme mucho en la música cuando comencé a escuchar rap (tenía algo así como 11 años) y luego descubrí el RATM, luego el rock, el metal y el punk. Creo que el hecho de que una música tenga una canción poderosa y, además, un significado poderoso, importa mucho, por eso el punk y el stoner son más inspiradores para mí.

3- have you drawn for any band?

3-I have drawn some posters for tours and many posters for gigs for bands such as: Listix, Nowhiterag, Kravboca, Callthecops, Demerit, Blatoidea, Antibastard, Möstly Crüde and more. I still didnt get published as cover artwork for album but I would love it really much !

3- ¿has dibujado para alguna banda?

3-He dibujado algunos carteles para giras y muchos carteles para conciertos para bandas como: Listix, Nowhiterag, Kravboca, Callthecops, Demerit, Blatoidea, Antibastard, Möstly Crüde y más. Todavía no me publicaron como portada para el álbum, ¡pero me encantaría mucho!

4- in which publications have you participated with your illustrations?

4- I participated in collective graphic fanzines, artbooks such as Couverture from Sortez La Chienne (fr) and some more. Recently I had the pleasure to participate on Vagazine from Czentrifuga (ger) —-—- wich is gona be rizoprinted, its gona be the first time that I gona see my art printed with this technique.

4- ¿en qué publicaciones has participado con tus ilustraciones?

4- Participé en fanzines gráficos colectivos, libros de arte como Couverture de Sortez La Chienne (fr) y algunos más. Recientemente tuve el placer de participar en la revista Vagazine de Czentrifuga (ger) —-—- que va a ser rizoprints, va a ser la primera vez que voy a ver mi arte impreso con esta técnica.

5- what would be the soundtracks of your life?

5- Wake up with « New age » from Blitz or playing some old ACDC tapes, then I would go biking arround listening to City Rats, For Fuck Sake, Krass Kepala (well any band that would push me to ride as fast as possible). Back home I would play some Stoner/Doom metal and draw, screenprint or craft items with this deep electric sounds. I dont know wich sound is gona be the last of life soundtrack, that’s why I only listen to music I truelly like. Our lifes are movies that need the best soundtrack, there is no time for shitty comercial or radio funy bullshit.

5- ¿cuáles serían las bandas sonoras de tu vida?

5- Despertaría con «New age» de Blitz o tocando algunas viejas cintas de ACDC, luego me iría en bicicleta escuchando City Rats, For Fuck Sake, Krass Kepala (bueno, cualquier banda que me empujara a montar lo más rápido posible) . En casa, tocaba algo de Stoner / Doom metal y dibujaba, serigrafiaba o fabricaba artículos con estos profundos sonidos eléctricos. No sé qué sonido va a ser la última banda sonora de la vida, es por eso que solo escucho la música que realmente me gusta. Nuestras vidas son películas que necesitan la mejor banda sonora, no hay tiempo para la mierda comercial o la radio divertida.

6- what differences do you see between the fanzines or the internet, do you prefer any of them?

6- There is some big differences between zines and web. I think its great to have both possibilities actually. For me, zines have this great thing of the present moment and location, its really carpediem. Some crew or collective give the possibility to mailorder but many of the zines are available only if you are at the right place and moment. You meet the people begind the object aswell and its very interesting.
Internet has also great possibilities for digital project like music/video and it can be very different from all this commercial website we all see. Its also spreading a lot.
But I have a lot of affections for objects. Zines/albums and such can be so creative and different, they smell ink and paper too ! We should never stop to create them !

6- ¿qué diferencias ves entre los fanzines o internet, prefieres alguno de ellos?

6- Existen grandes diferencias entre fanzines y web. Creo que es genial tener ambas posibilidades en realidad. Para mí, los fanzines tienen esta gran cosa del momento presente y la ubicación, es realmente carpediem. Algunos equipos o colectivos dan la posibilidad de realizar pedidos por correo, pero muchas de las revistas están disponibles solo si se encuentra en el lugar y momento adecuados. También conoces a la gente que busca el objeto y es muy interesante.

Internet también tiene grandes posibilidades para proyectos digitales como música / video y puede ser muy diferente a todo este sitio web comercial que todos vemos. También se está extendiendo mucho.

Pero tengo mucho cariño por los objetos. Zines / álbumes y demás pueden ser tan creativos y diferentes que huelen a tinta y papel. ¡Nunca debemos detenernos a crearlos!

7- what are the bands that you would recommend in your environment?

7-There is so much of them ! Dearh Church from Rudimentary Peny is a great album I recomend. I also like Cress a lot, you should listen to it all. If you dont know Molodoï and Bérurier Noir you should try it too, its powerfull. More presently from France I discovered Krondstadt ,Traitres, Rixe, or Kravboca, I like a lot ! I also have a lot of friends playing in bands like: Ego, Dozix, Exors, Listix, Antibastard, and so much more. I like to listen to what is happening now in the punk scene.

7- ¿cuáles son las bandas que recomendarías en tu entorno?

7-¡Hay tantos! Death Church de Rudimentary Peny es un gran álbum que recomiendo. También me gusta mucho Cress, deberías escucharlo todo. Si no conoces Molodoï y Bérurier Noir, deberías probarlo también, es poderoso. Más ahora de Francia descubrí Krondstadt, Traitres, Rixe o Kravboca, ¡me gusta mucho! También tengo muchos amigos tocando en bandas como: Ego, Dozix, Exors, Listix, Antibastard y muchas más. Me gusta escuchar lo que está pasando ahora en la escena punk.

8- are you aware of other artists and their illustrations? 
Who would you recommend?

8- Since I am using socials I can follow the work of many artists friends, but also many artists I never met. There is so many talented illustrators visual artists and comicartists nowaday, it’s awesome to feel inspired by these people. I feel kind of little between all this creativity, that pushes me to always try new things with drawing and most generaly with art. Recently I started to make sculptures again for instance.
I would recomend either the work of Druillet and Jean Giraud (Moebius). I think they had a big impact on me for sure, and on the whole world actually. Both are comic artists, they really changed the perception that people had about science fiction and comics, they made it seriously taken in consideration as a proper shape of art. They aren’t the only ones I admire, long is the list, but I would recomend anybody to start with those ones.

8- ¿conoces a otros artistas y sus ilustraciones?

¿A quién recomendarías?

8- Ya que estoy usando redes sociales puedo seguir el trabajo de muchos artistas amigos, pero también de muchos artistas que nunca conocí. Hay tantos ilustradores talentosos, artistas visuales y cómicos hoy en día, que es increíble sentirse inspirado por estas personas. Me siento un poco pequeño entre toda esta creatividad, que me empuja a intentar siempre cosas nuevas con el dibujo y, en general, con el arte. Recientemente comencé a hacer esculturas nuevamente, por ejemplo.

Recomendaría el trabajo de Druillet y Jean Giraud (Moebius). Creo que sin duda tuvieron un gran impacto en mí y, de hecho, en el mundo entero. Ambos son artistas de cómics, realmente cambiaron la percepción que la gente tenía sobre la ciencia ficción y los cómics, lo tomaron en serio como una forma adecuada de arte. No son los únicos que admiro, la lista es larga, pero recomendaría a cualquiera que empiece por esos.

9- what are your plans as a cartoonist in this year 2020?

9- 2020 is almost over now, and such a crazy year. A lot of project went cancelled, and then I created a lot of other ones. I am excited to announce I am actually playing in a band since couple of month, and I can’t wait to play hidden gigs, to record, release and share music.
As a cartoonist, I keep on working on my stories, create new issues, developp the character design. Covid definitly changed the aspect of the worlds I create and the characters that evolve into it. I finaly managed to design and to screenprint a new graphic fanzine with a fresh team of friends, and it’s very exciting to feel in touch again with book crafting !
My aim is to keep on releasing this kind of handcrafted comic books.
In this digital times, I feel that a lot of us need real objects like books or prints.
There is nothing to shake your brain than the smell of fresh ink on the paper when you read this new fanzine you get in your mail box last morning !

9- ¿cuáles son tus planes como dibujante en este año 2020?

9-2020 ya casi ha terminado, y un año tan loco. Se cancelaron muchos proyectos y luego creé muchos otros. Estoy emocionado de anunciar que en realidad estoy tocando en una banda desde hace un par de meses, y no puedo esperar para tocar en conciertos ocultos, para grabar, lanzar y compartir música.

Como dibujante, sigo trabajando en mis historias, creo nuevos temas, desarrollo el diseño de personajes. Covid definitivamente cambió el aspecto de los mundos que creo y los personajes que evolucionan hacia ellos. Finalmente logré diseñar y serigrafiar un nuevo fanzine gráfico con un nuevo equipo de amigos, ¡y es muy emocionante volver a estar en contacto con la creación de libros!

Mi objetivo es seguir lanzando este tipo de cómics hechos a mano.

En estos tiempos digitales, siento que muchos de nosotros necesitamos objetos reales como libros o grabados.

¡No hay nada para sacudir tu cerebro que el olor a tinta fresca en el papel cuando lees este nuevo fanzine que recibiste en tu buzón anoche!

10- what would your life be like without art and music?

10- Depressing of course, and since the very begening of my existence.
I actually understand more and more how problematic it is for me to express what I think and feel to people.
Art is the way I comunicate with this world, I can’t imagine my life without it.
Either about music, there isn’t a day without listening to new albums, specially since there is a lot of new realeses because of confinment.
It’s interesting to see how much people dedicate themself even more to art when most sources of distraction are shutted down.
I have been very creative lately. Kind of like « as always » but the general climate of emergency is stimulating my imagination and my motivation even more.
We are running out of time, it’s now the moment to realise your dreams, to start your revolution.
More than ever there is no future, no tomorow for us. Art is a big part of the adventure of human kind, wich gona end soon. I am glad to take part and contribute to it.

10- ¿cómo sería tu vida sin arte y música?

10- Deprimente por supuesto, y desde el comienzo mismo de mi existencia.

De hecho, entiendo cada vez más lo problemático que es para mí expresar lo que pienso y siento a la gente.

El arte es la forma en que me comunico con este mundo, no puedo imaginar mi vida sin él.

Ya sea de música, no hay un día sin escuchar nuevos discos, sobre todo porque hay muchos nuevos reales por el encierro.

Es interesante ver cuánta gente se dedica aún más al arte cuando se apagan la mayoría de las fuentes de distracción.

Últimamente he sido muy creativo. Algo así como «como siempre», pero el clima general de emergencia está estimulando mi imaginación y mi motivación aún más.

Se nos acaba el tiempo, ahora es el momento de hacer realidad tus sueños, de comenzar tu revolución.

Más que nunca, no hay futuro ni mañana para nosotros. El arte es una gran parte de la aventura de la humanidad, que pronto terminará. Me alegro de participar y contribuir.

Cartoonist: Buster Bone (interview #081)

1- what's your name ?, where are you from?

My name is Buster Bone. I live in Montreuil in the suburb of Paris - France.

1- ¿cómo te llamas ? ¿de dónde eres?

Mi nombre es Buster Bone. Vivo en Montreuil en el suburbio de París - Francia.




2- How do your drawings develop? From the original idea, to the details on design programs?

It depends of the topic. If I have time, I let the idea grow and develop itself in my head with the things I wanna show in the drawing. Then I make one or more roughs to set the elements at the right place (Background, characters, text, etc…). Once I chose the good sketch I draw the definitive line and scan it or draw it directly on graphic tablet and put colours in Photoshop.

2- ¿cómo se desarrollan tus dibujos? desde la idea original, hasta los detalles en los programas de diseño?

Depende del tema. Si tengo tiempo, dejo que la idea crezca y se desarrolle en mi cabeza con las cosas que quiero mostrar en el dibujo. Luego hago uno o más bocetos para colocar los elementos en el lugar correcto (Fondo, caracteres, texto, etc…). Una vez elegido el buen boceto dibujo la línea definitiva y la escaneo o la dibujo directamente en la tableta gráfica y pongo colores en Photoshop.





3- since when do you dedicate yourself to drawing?

Since I was a child. It may sound like a cliché but I used to draw in my notebooks during the class.

3- ¿desde cuando te dedicas al dibujo?

Desde que yo era un niño. Puede parecer un cliché, pero solía dibujar en mis cuadernos durante la clase.

4- what are your favorite bands or albums?

Too many to mention in too many styles! The most important band for me may be The Specials. They blew my mind when I was young and I never stopped loving them. The music, the lyrics, the energy, the sharp style, the attitude, the message… Everything is perfect in The Specials! And my hero is Jackie Mittoo, The Original Beatmaster, The Keyboard King, The Maestro, The Original Reggae Foundation!

4- ¿cuáles son tus bandas o álbumes favoritos?

¡Demasiados para mencionarlos en demasiados estilos! La banda más importante para mí puede ser The Specials. Me voló la cabeza cuando era joven y nunca dejé de amarlos. La música, las letras, la energía, el estilo afilado, la actitud, el mensaje… ¡Todo es perfecto en The Specials! ¡Y mi héroe es Jackie Mittoo, The Original Beatmaster, The Keyboard King, The Maestro, The Original Reggae Foundation!

6- have you ever worked to order?

Yes, I work as a freelance illustrator mainly for French press and publishers of child’s books since 20 years! Since a few years now, I make drawings about Reggae and Skinheads, Rudeboys and Suedeheads subculture, it gave me the opportunity to realize LP and 45 covers for The Barrelshots, The Toasters, The Slackers, Rudies All Around vol. 2 compilation and a poster for the London International Ska Festival.

6- ¿alguna vez has trabajado por encargo?

Sí, trabajo como ilustrador independiente principalmente para la prensa francesa y editores de libros para niños desde hace 20 años. Desde hace unos años, hago dibujos sobre la subcultura Reggae y Skinheads, Rudeboys y Suedeheads, me dio la oportunidad de realizar LP y 45 covers para The Barrelshots, The Toasters, The Slackers, Rudies All Around vol. 2 recopilación y un cartel para el London International Ska Festival.

7- which was the best band you saw live? do you remember why?

I saw many bands live in many different styles, Bad Brains, James Brown, The Kinks, Beastie Boys… But once again, the best concert of all my life was The Specials at the Bataclan in Paris. A few months before I sent my drawings of them to Horace Panter, the bassist of the band on facebook, he replied to me in the hour in a really kind way, he shared my drawings on facebook and twitter. Later, Brad, the drummer of the band, used my portrait of him as his avatar on Twitter, we used to chat on social medias and he invited me to their upcoming show in Paris! I couldn’t believe it! My all time favorite band in the world! I went to the venue in the afternoon before the show, met Horace, Brad and Lynval, I attended the soundcheck, got home to get my 8 years old son, got back to the show wich was brilliant and finally got backstage with my son to see the members of the band! It was an incredible day and night !  
They were lovely and kind, true generous gentlemen. I saw them last year for their Encore Tour, but sadly, Brad wasn’t there anymore…

7- ¿cuál fue la mejor banda que viste en vivo? ¿recuerdas por qué?

Vi a muchas bandas en vivo de muchos estilos diferentes, Bad Brains, James Brown, The Kinks, Beastie Boys… Pero una vez más, el mejor concierto de toda mi vida fue The Specials en el Bataclan de París. Unos meses antes de enviar mis dibujos de ellos a Horace Panter, el bajista de la banda en facebook, me respondió en la hora de una manera muy amable, compartió mis dibujos en facebook y twitter. Más tarde, Brad, el baterista de la banda, usó mi retrato de él como su avatar en Twitter, solíamos charlar en las redes sociales y ¡me invitó a su próximo show en París! ¡No lo podía creer! ¡Mi banda favorita de todos los tiempos en el mundo! Fui al lugar en la tarde antes del show, conocí a Horace, Brad y Lynval, asistí a la prueba de sonido, llegué a casa a buscar a mi hijo de 8 años, regresé al show que fue brillante y finalmente llegué al backstage con mi hijo para ver a los miembros de la banda! ¡Fue un día y una noche increíbles!

Eran hermosos y amables, verdaderos caballeros generosos. Los vi el año pasado para su Encore Tour, pero lamentablemente, Brad ya no estaba allí ...

Hago más y más dibujos sobre cosas que amo profundamente y, por fin, logro hacer impresiones adecuadas de mis cosas para satisfacer la creciente demanda.
