Hey, man. My name is Jansen Baracho. I live in Brazil (Natal/RN). I'm an illustrator and occasional tattoo artist.

Los dibujos.

Si es un encargo, primero tengo una pequeña charla con la persona con la que estoy trabajando para saber qué quiere, más o menos, para el concepto.

If it is a commissioned one, first i have a little talk with the person that i'm working with to know what, more or less, he wants for the concept. Besisdes tinta y papel e ilustración digital, me gusta hacer algunos lavados de tinta de vez en cuando. 
También probé poscas, pero solo por diversión.

Motörhead en 2009. Como saben, Brasil es un país enorme. 
Vivo en la región noreste, y la mayor parte de los grandes espectáculos internacionales ocurren en el sureste. 
Pero hay un festival anual en nuestra región llamado "Abril Pro Rock", y en este festival pude ver bandas como Sodom, Bad Brains, Obituary, DK, DRI, Nuclear Assault, Varukers ... y Motörhead. 
¡Toda la gente se volvió loca! 
Fue enorme y muy especial para todos.

Motörhead in 2009. As you know, Brazil is a huge country. I live in the northeast region, and the most part of the big international shows happens at the southeast. But there's an annual festival in our region called "Abril Pro Rock", and at this fest i could see bands like Sodom, Bad Brains, Obituary, DK, DRI, Nuclear Assault, Varukers... and Motörhead. The whole people just went nuts! It was huge and very special for everybody.

1- where are you from, where do you live and what is a normal day like in your life?

1. I was born in New York, grew up in Delaware (a small state on the east coast of the united states) but moved to San Diego, california in my mid-20's for an employment offer. I work from home Tuesday and Thursday, so a normal day for me is either going to the office for 8 hours or sitting in bed working from my laptop. When I have free time I will draw, play guitar, or swim at the beach.

2- Do you remember if you started listening to music or drawing?

2. I have been drawing for a very long time, I can't remember a time before I was drawing. Music was different, my family did not listen to very much music. It was not forbidden, my parents just did not listen to music very often.
When I was about 11 or 12 I would listen to cassette tapes my dad would get for free from his work. He worked at a department store and the music companies gave him free albums to try to get him to sell them in the store. One of the first ones I remember was Nirvana's Nevermind. A few years later I would start listening to underground and local punk bands from cassette tapes given to me by my friend's older brother.

3. I don't get out to see shows as often as I used to, but there are a lot of places to play here and any night of the week there's at least 3 different shows I could go to. I don't always know who the bands are or even what kind of music they play, but the scene here is much more vibrant than where I grew up.

4 - My favorite local band is Mrs. Magician, they play what i think is called "Beach Goth", sort of like a sad version of the Beach Boys hahaha. Another great local band is Dethsurf, who combine surf rock with heavy rock and metal influences.

5- My favorite bands are the Misfits, Dwarves, King Khan and BBQ Show (and all of their various other projects), Electric Frankenstein, Dead Boys, The Germs, I could go on and on.

6- what are the plastic arts in which you are most comfortable?

6 - I'm not quite sure what you mean by "plastic", but usually everything I do starts off as a digital illustration. I used to do everything in pencil first, then trace it on the computer, but now I just start with the computer. After that I can turn whatever I create into screen prints or stencils for spraypaint.

7 - I follow a ton of other artists, especially on instagram. Alex Pardee, Skinner, Lauren Ys, Nychos, Tittybats, and Godmachine are some of my favorites.

8 - Good question, I have seen a lot of crazy performances. There's a band from Alabama (southern united states) that I've seen a few times. They move all of their gear - drums, amps, everything - while they are playing to the middle of the room, sometimes even outside, crowd surf with their guitars, stand on the bar, and set the drums and guitars on fire while they're playing, never missing a note. It's insane. There's probably some videos on youtube of their shows, I've never seen anything else like it.

9 - My illustrations usually end up on band merch - t-shirts, stickers, album covers etc. but I've shown some of my prints at galleries pop-ups in San Diego and LA.

10- What differences do you see between Rock 30 years ago compared to today?

10 - I'm not really sure, I was too young 30 years ago to go to concerts or really get into rock, but it seemed like in the 90's there were a lot of really fucked up and insane people making music - some of the biggest bands had members who killed themselves through suicide or drug overdoses. Marilyn Manson would get arrested for some of the stuff he did on stage, Trent Reznor would destroy all of his gear on stage. The biggest rappers in the world were shooting at each other and dying. I don't know if that made for better music or not but it was a lot more interesting than what we have now. I can't remember the last time there was a real scandal or headline involving a mainstream artist.

11 - I honestly don't know, both of those things are so important to me that I couldn't even imagine what it would be like without them. I guess I'd play a lot more video games.
