Cartoonists: Daniel Pacetta Giometti (interview #99 and image gallery).

Una vez mas vuelven a aparecer una de las tantas entrevistas de hace mas de un año que quedaron olvidadas por varios motivos. Resulta que hace unos dias vi como habiamos acordado con Daniel, de hacer unas de las primeras entrevistas de este proyecto llamado "Cartoonist Around The World", y que recien ayer fueron contestadas. aunque es una simple anecdota, ambas partes quedamos satisfechas de poder concluir con esta asignatura pendiente. Asi que nada...a disfrutarla!


Once again one of the many interviews from more than a year ago that were forgotten for various reasons reappears. It turns out that a few days ago I saw how we had agreed with Daniel to do some of the first interviews of this project called "Cartoonist Around The World", and that they were answered just yesterday. Although it is a simple anecdote, both parties are satisfied to be able to conclude with this pending issue. So nothing ... enjoy it!

1. What is your name? where are you from? and how is a normal day in quarantine?

Hi,my real name is Daniel but i´m also known as ETE, or ExTxE , I live in Campinas SP here in Brazil.

I usually wake up early to do the breakfest for my daughter who takes online classes. Then I try to spend as much time as possible focused on drawing, either as work or study or just for fun.

And also to increase the collection of references by listening to music and watching old horror movies


1. Cual es tu nombre? ¿De dónde eres? y como es un dia normal en cuarentena?

Hola, mi nombre real es Daniel pero también me conocen como ETE, o ExTxE, vivo en Campinas SP aquí en Brasil.

Por lo general, me levanto temprano para desayunar con  mi hija que toma clases en línea. Luego trato de pasar el mayor tiempo posible concentrado en el dibujo, ya sea como trabajo o estudio o simplemente por diversión.

Y también para aumentar la colección de referencias escuchando música y viendo viejas películas de terror.

2- How is the scene in your city?

Both musically and in relation to the graphic arts, we have always had great artists despite the city being generally very conservative


2- ¿Cómo es el panorama en tu ciudad?

Tanto musicalmente como en relación a las artes gráficas, siempre hemos tenido grandes artistas a pesar de que la ciudad es en general muy conservadora.

3- What is your role in the Underground?

I've been involved with the underground music scene here in the city since 1988 when I was 17, first attending shows, then playing and producing shows and records.First I played in a band called Víscera that lasted from 1987 until 1990, I also played in the Muzzarelas from 1991 until 2018, we released eight albums, I also play bass on Drakula and I am the vocalist of the Bong Brigade.

I also do arts related to bands, like posters, album covers, t-shirts and underground culture in general since the early 90s.


3- ¿Cuál es tu papel en el Underground?

He estado involucrado con la escena de la música underground aquí en la ciudad desde 1988 cuando tenía 17 años, primero asistiendo a shows, luego tocando y produciendo shows y discos. Primero toqué en una banda llamada Víscera que duró desde 1987 hasta 1990, también toqué en las Muzzarelas desde 1991 hasta 2018, sacamos ocho discos, también toco el bajo en Drakula y soy el vocalista de la Bong Brigade.

También hago artes relacionadas con bandas, como carteles, portadas de discos, camisetas y cultura underground en general desde principios de los 90.

4- What bands from your environment could you recommend us?

from local or regional bands I can indicate Lethal Charge, Leptospirose , Kill Baidek , Lunettes, Violentures , Maguerbes , Aqueles , Satanagem , Slag , Scum Noise , Grease , Linguachula , No Class , Lucrezia Borgia, Coice de Mula. Some of these bands have already ended their activity, but they are good names for those who want to understand a little our local underground music scene.


4- ¿Qué bandas de tu entorno nos podrías recomendar?

de bandas locales o regionales puedo indicar Carga letal, Leptospirose, Kill Baidek, Lunettes, Violentures, Maguerbes, Aqueles, Satanagem, Slag, Scum Noise, Grease, Linguachula, No Class, Lucrezia Borgia, Coice de Mula. Algunas de estas bandas ya han terminado su actividad, pero son buenos nombres para aquellos que quieran entender un poco nuestra escena musical underground local.

5- going through your image gallery I see that you take the drawing towards the monstrosity. but how would you define your style?

I never thought of any label, definition or even an art scene. But I align myself with any graphic artist who likes horror comics, low budget films, punk rock and skate art from the 80s


5- paseando por tu galería de imágenes veo que llevas el dibujo hacia la monstruosidad. pero ¿cómo definirías tu estilo?

Nunca pensé en ninguna etiqueta, definición o incluso una escena artística. Pero me alineo con cualquier artista gráfico al que le gusten los cómics de terror, las películas de bajo presupuesto, el punk rock y el skate art de los 80.

6- how are your illustrations developed, from the original idea to the final result?

Usually it comes from pencil sketches, then I do all the strokes using nanquin, after the drawing is finished completely manually, I scan and do all the coloring in photoshop.

Also drawing on collages that can be done digitally and then printed or handmade.

I also make screens and walls.


6- ¿cómo se desarrollan tus ilustraciones, desde la idea original hasta el resultado final?

Por lo general, proviene de bocetos a lápiz, luego hago todos los trazos usando nanquin, después de que el dibujo está terminado de forma completamente manual, escaneo y hago todo el coloreado en photoshop.

También dibujando en collages que se pueden hacer digitalmente y luego impresos o hechos a mano.

También hago mamparas y murales.

7- What are the techniques that you control best?

I try to concentrate more on drawing, I keep all this manual process, I don't use a digital table to draw, I keep doing everything using nanquin and paper. This is where I try to stand out, I like to keep the rawness of the ink on the paper


7- ¿Cuáles son las técnicas que mejor controlas?

Intento concentrarme más en el dibujo, sigo todo este proceso manual, no uso una mesa digital para dibujar, sigo haciendo todo con nanquin y papel. Aquí es donde trato de destacar, me gusta mantener la crudeza de la tinta en el papel.

8- For which bands have you drawn?

I've done hundreds of arts for t-shirts, skatedecks, album covers, stickers, t-shirts, gigposters and any other type of product related to underground music for bands like Nuclear Assault, Violator, Ratos de Porão, Rovsvett , the Dwarves , ROT , The Caveman, GBH , Los Crudos, Agent Orange ,Cockney Rejects ,The Rezzilos , Municipal Waste and many others


8- ¿Para qué bandas has dibujado?

He realizado cientos de artes para camisetas, skatedecks, carátulas de discos, stickers, camisetas, gigposters y cualquier otro tipo de producto relacionado con la música underground para bandas como Nuclear Assault, Violator, Ratos de Porão, Rovsvett, the Dwarves. , ROT, The Caveman, GBH, Los Crudos, Agent Orange, Cockney Rejects, The Rezzilos, Municipal Waste y muchos otros.

9- Do you follow the illustrations of other cartoonists? who are they?

Yes,i'm a great fan of a new generations of crazy artists here in Brazil, they all come from the same underground culture as me names like Danielone, Victor Stephan, Luis Berger, Chico Felix, Valdomiro Mugrelise , Fernando Jfl , the SHN group , Lobo Ramirez, Cristiano Suarez and I also really like the old school of Brazilian horror comics like Flávio Colin, Júlio Shimamoto , Jaime Cortez and Eugênio Colonese .

And the One and Only Lourenço Mutarelli , he is like a master to me


9- ¿Sigues las ilustraciones de otros dibujantes? ¿Quiénes son?

Sí, soy un gran admirador de una nueva generación de artistas locos aquí en Brasil, todos vienen de la misma cultura underground que yo nombres como Danielone, Victor Stephan, Luis Berger, Chico Felix, Valdomiro Mugrelise, Fernando Jfl, la SHN grupo, Lobo Ramirez, Cristiano Suarez y también me gusta mucho la vieja escuela de cómics de terror brasileños como Flávio Colin, Júlio Shimamoto, Jaime Cortez y Eugênio Colonese.

Y el Único Lourenço Mutarelli, es como un maestro para mí

10- what are your hobbies?

I am lucky to work with art and have art as a hobby too, other than that I try to do a little bit of physical exercise running and walking, but the pandemic made it much more difficult, I watch many old films too


10- ¿cuáles son tus aficiones?

Tengo la suerte de trabajar con el arte y tener el arte como hobby también, aparte de eso trato de hacer un poco de ejercicio físico corriendo y caminando, pero la pandemia lo hizo mucho más difícil, también veo muchas películas antiguas.

 

11- what do foreigners know about the current government of Brazil?

I think that someone reasonably well informed today knows that Brazil has reached very high numbers of deaths related to covid, currently our health system is collapsing, both public and private, the situation here is very serious, one of the reasons for This human disaster was the mismanagement of the crisis by the federal government, led by a lunatic fascist named Jair Bolsonaro, elected in 2018 through a campaign really oriented by the extreme right, with the intensive use of fake news, campaigns of misinformation and intimidation.

Another fact that made the election of this presidential disaster possible was the political and legal persecution that culminated in the arrest of the main name of the Brazilian left-wing center Luís Lula da Silva, today he is at liberty and the plot that was carried out to dismiss his name from the electoral dispute has been unmasked as the biggest scandal in the history of the Brazilian judicial system.

Today Bolsonaro does not have the popular support to keep him in power, but he has the support of the entire military class, both the Armed Forces and the Police, as well as illegal armed militias. Economically, the country is on the brink of chaos. But since we are all at home for the whole crisis related to the covid, people do not go out to protest against the government.

11- ¿que desconocen los extranjeros sobre el actual gobierno de Brasil?

Creo que alguien razonablemente bien informado hoy en día sabe que Brasil ha alcanzado cifras muy altas de muertes relacionadas con el covid, actualmente nuestro sistema de salud se está colapsando, tanto público como privado, la situación aquí es muy grave, una de las razones de este desastre humano fue la mala administración de la crisis por parte del gobierno federal, liderado por un fascista lunático llamado Jair Bolsonaro, elegido en 2018 a través de una campaña realmente orientada por la extrema derecha, con el uso intensivo de noticias falsas, campañas de desinformación e intimidación.


Otro hecho que hizo posible la elección de este desastre presidencial fue la persecución política y legal que culminó con la detención del nombre principal del centro de izquierda brasileño Luís Lula da Silva, hoy se encuentra en libertad y el complot que se llevó a cabo para destituir su nombre de la disputa electoral ha sido desenmascarado como el mayor escándalo en la historia del sistema judicial brasileño.

Hoy Bolsonaro no cuenta con el apoyo popular que lo mantenga en el poder, pero cuenta con el apoyo de toda la clase militar, tanto de las Fuerzas Armadas como de la Policía, además de milicias armadas ilegales. Económicamente, el país está al borde del caos. Pero como estamos todos en casa por toda la crisis relacionada con el covid la gente no sale a la calle a protestar contra el gobierno.
